An eSIM is a SIM built into your phone instead of a small plastic card you slot in. Your Etisalat line is downloaded onto the device as a secure digital profile, so there is no physical SIM to collect, swap or lose. Etisalat eSIM compatible devices
eSIM is a hardware feature of the phone, so what matters is the model you own. These are the device families that support eSIM. UAE iPhones keep both a physical SIM tray and an eSIM, so you can run dual SIM.

How to activate or convert to an Etisalat eSIM
The fastest route is the e& UAE app (the app formerly known as My Etisalat UAE). The same flow works whether you are activating a new eSIM or converting a physical SIM to eSIM. Do this on the phone you want the eSIM on.
- Open the e& UAE app and log in with Facial Recognition.
- Tap Manage on your line.
- Pick the SIM you want to convert or transfer.
- Open Select SIM card.
- Choose Replace SIM / Switch to eSIM.
- Set the SIM type as eSIM and follow the on-screen steps.
Once you confirm, the physical SIM loses signal first, and the eSIM activates within about 3 to 5 minutes. Prefer not to do it yourself? You can also activate at the e& website (etisalat.ae) or any e& store, and as your dealer we can walk you through it on WhatsApp.
Before you start: what you need to know
- Be in the UAE. Activation through the app needs you to be physically located in the UAE with location enabled. A request will not go through from outside the country.
- Log in with Facial Recognition. The app uses facial recognition (UAE Pass style identity) to authorise the SIM change.
- 24-hour window. You must complete activation within 24 hours of the request, or it is cancelled and you start again.
- Cost. Etisalat has offered eSIM activation free as a limited-time promotion on the e& UAE app. Promotions change, so we confirm the current fee with you before you order. There is no separate charge from us for arranging your plan and number.
- Keep your QR or details handy. If you activate a second device by QR code, scan it with the new phone and confirm.
